Families of World War II Veterans is excited to announce it is taking part in a special birthday celebration in Frisco in honor of World War II veteran Burnie Sutter's 100th birthday on Saturday, April 10. To help commemorate the birthday of this war hero, Families of World War II Veterans is sponsoring an airplane flyover with a birthday banner and contributing World War II-era cars as part of a drive-by parade. In recognition of the veteran's years of service, life and legacy, Families of World War II Veterans has named a $2,500 scholarship in Mr. Sutter's honor.
Families of World War II Veterans was founded by Barbara Fasola, CEO of Frisco-based Careington International Corporation. Fasola was moved to create Families of World War II Veterans in honor of her father, a World War II veteran, who served in the South Pacific.
Families of World War II Veterans awards annual scholarships each year to students pursuing an undergraduate degree at the college of their choice. In addition to displaying strong academic standing and financial need, scholarship recipients share how the lessons and historical significance of World War II have had a personal impact on their lives as part of the scholarship application process.
"We are excited to be a part of Mr. Sutter's 100th birthday celebration and are happy to honor his legacy by creating a scholarship in his name," said Fasola. "All of us at Families of World War II Veterans acknowledge the significant value in recognizing the dedication, service and valor of our veterans, and we are proud to continue to honor that legacy by helping new generations achieve their financial goals."
