Dear Families of WWII Veterans Community,

I am so sorry that I am unable to attend the Families of WWII 2019 Golf Tournament and Fundraising Event but wanted to express my sincerest thanks and gratitude for the scholarship. When I found out that I had been awarded this scholarship, I was ecstatic and immediately told my parents and Grandmother. This scholarship means so much to me and I wish that I was able to be there to express my gratitude. I am immensely thankful for the Families of World War II Veterans Organization and the opportunities they have enabled me with by reducing the financial burden of college.

I have decided to pursue a degree in Speech Language Pathology and was accepted into the UCF LEAD program, a service-based leadership program. In my short time at UCF, I have already been able to participate in many different opportunities on campus because I’m not working during the fall semester. While in high school, I worked two part time jobs through my junior and senior years in order to save for college. Even with working throughout high school, I knew that I would need to do more in order to financially make it to the University of Central Florida. But because of the WWII scholarship, I was able to focus on school and not have to get a job right away. This has allowed me to fully experience campus life by joining several clubs and service organizations including Volunteer UCF and the Outdoor Adventure Club. With this scholarship, stress around financial stability has been greatly diminished and I have been able to participate in multiple service events and projects in order to help the communities around me. I have already completed 20 hours of community service and am looking forward to working on a service project benefiting people with disabilities over my Christmas break. My courses have been challenging, but I have been spending lots of time studying. Currently, I have all As and one B which I am trying to raise to an A before the end of the semester.

Having time to focus on my academics and also work in my community has been an amazing opportunity. This scholarship has had such a great impact on me and my experiences at UCF. I am immensely grateful and I cannot say "Thank You" enough.

Sincerely,

Carly Czyzyk
