John William Vaughn served in World War II from 1943 to 1945 and the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
During his time in the U.S. Army, Vaughn had earned the title of Private First Class, occupational specialty of anti-tank crewman/infantry. He served at the Battle of the Bulge, the last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front during World War II and one of the greatest battles in American military history.
Vaughn served during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force, earning the title of First Lieutenant, occupational specialty of electronic officer and radar observer.
Vaughn earned many medals throughout his service, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars.
