Billy Fortenberry served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a Navigator on a C-47, a Curtiss Commando transport plane.
Billy served in the Pacific arena from 10 Aug 1944 to 23 July 1945. He participated in aerial action against the enemy during the Western Caroline, Leyte, Luzon, Marianas Islands, Iwo Jima and Okinawa operations. Billy was honorably discharged as a Tech. Sgt. in October, 1945.
