Careington Sponsors Families of World War II Veterans Fundraising Event
December 2, 2014

On Nov. 20, 2014, Careington International Corporation co-sponsored and hosted the 2014 annual fundraising event for Families of World War II Veterans.

Careington's chief executive officer Barbara Fasola, whose father is a surviving veteran of the Second World War, founded and chairs Families of World War II Veterans, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization founded in 2010. Families of World War II Veterans is dedicated to honoring the heroic legacies of WWII veterans and other individuals involved in WWII efforts and does so through its student scholarship program. In its first years, the organization has awarded more than 20 scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Each year, this organization hosts a fundraising event to help meet its scholarship award goal. This year's event, the organization's fourth annual, was a bowling event complemented by a silent auction. In attendance at this year's event were Careington employees, representatives from many clients and vendor partners, attendees from Military Justice League, WWII veterans and more than a dozen current and former professional athletes.

Careington's CEO Barbara Fasola expressed continued enthusiasm about the event, saying, "It's opportunities like this - when you get to see people of all generations come together in support of our veterans and to honor this passing generation - that continue to give Families of World War II Veterans and its initiatives purpose and meaning. It's truly rewarding to be part of this celebration of heroes."

In addition to Barbara's role as founder and chair, fellow Careington colleagues serving on the organization's board include Dr. Martin J. Rinker, Melissa Baumann, Stewart Sweda and Sean Loving.

Funds raised from this event will help further the organization's scholarship efforts and will also help fund a World War II memorial in Frisco. Corporate sponsorship opportunities remain available.
